Champion Credit Union welcomes Ecusta Credit Union!  

We understand that change can be a source of uncertainty, but we want to assure that this merger is designed to bring substantial benefits to all our members. Champion Credit Union and Ecusta Credit Union share a common commitment to providing exceptional financial services, and by joining forces, we aim to deliver an even more robust and comprehensive range of offerings. This merger is an opportunity to enhance the financial well-being of our collective membership.

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers regarding the merger:

Q:  Will the Ecusta branch remain open?
A:  The Ecusta branch will remain open with the service and support needed to help you experience more. The hours of operation will also remain unchanged, and the location will be known as “Champion Credit Union – Ecusta”.

Q:  Will my account number change?
A:  Your account number will remain the same for the time being. That change will only occur when the systems are converted to Champion Credit Union. Detailed communication will be provided as that transition occurs.

Q:  Will my accounts continue to be insured?
A:  Yes. Your accounts will still maintain the same share insurance through the National Credit Union Administration.

Q:  Will my online banking change?
A:  Not initially. During the transition period, you will continue to use the same login credentials to access online banking. As systems transition, more detailed communication will be provided. Click here to log in. 
 
Q: How do I log in to Ecusta Visa Access?
A: You can access Ecusta Visa Access by clicking on your credit card once you are logged into your online banking. Click here to log in to online banking.

Q:  Will debit cards, credit cards, and recurring transactions (ACH, checks, direct deposits, etc.) still work?
A:  Yes. All these services will remain unchanged for now. If/when changes occur, more detailed communication will be provided.

Q:  Will the terms of my existing Ecusta accounts change?
A:  Loans: Your existing loan contracts will remain in effect until the loan is paid in full. Share Certificates: The terms of your existing share certificate(s) will remain the same until maturity. Regular Shares and Checking: Rates on these accounts will remain the same until system conversions occur. More detailed communication will be provided as that transition occurs.

Q:  Can I transact business on my Ecusta accounts at one of Champion’s branches?
A:  Not initially. We ask that you please continue visiting the Ecusta office for now. Access to Champion branches will be possible after the system conversion occurs. More detailed communication will be provided as that transition occurs.

Q:  What if I want to access Champion’s products and services prior to the system conversion?
A:  We are happy to open up a new Champion account and begin transferring your membership to the Champion platform at any time. Please just visit one of our six branch locations across Western North Carolina.

Q:  What is the financial condition of the credit union post-merger?
A:  Champion Credit Union post-merger will maintain its well-capitalized position as defined by NCUA and remains extremely profitable with a focus on returning as much value and opportunity as possible back to its members and community.

Q:  Will any employees lose their jobs?
A:  No. Champion is committed to retaining all Ecusta employees as well as honoring their years of service through the transition.

Q:  What is the merger timeline?
A:  The legal date of the merger is November 1, 2023. System conversions and other changes will be carried out as available. Any changes will be accompanied with detailed communication.
