As a member-owned financial cooperative, our Annual Meeting is a special time for us to connect with the members who own our credit union. We review the past year’s financial performance, celebrate milestones, share what’s ahead, and of course, enjoy dinner and BINGO together.

Our 94th Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 5 PM, and this year we’ll be at a NEW location - DoubleTree Biltmore in Asheville. We’re excited about the opportunity to create an even better experience for our members.

Champion Credit Union is a leading financial institution that has served the WNC community for over 94 years. We are committed to providing personalized banking solutions, with a focus on the community and the financial well-being of our members, allowing them to experience more.

Through boldness in innovation, upholding integrity with the highest standards of honesty, and a passion for service, we are committed to surpassing the expected and delivering the exception.

Unlike traditional banks, we operate as a not-for-profit financial cooperative, which means our focus is solely on serving the needs and interests of our members rather than shareholders. Since our inception in 1932, we've provided exceptional financial services to our community, serving over 38,000 members across nine counties in WNC, empowering individuals, families, and businesses to experience more.

The History of Champion Credit Union

During a time when businesses were failing across the country, a small paper mill in Canton, North Carolina was thriving, leaving employees in need of a safe place to save their money. In 1932, seven employees of Champion Paper Fibre Company joined together to create Champion Savings and Loan, known today as Champion Credit Union.

Board of Directors

As a member-owned financial cooperative, we have a group of volunteer Board of Directors who represent the best interests of our members. It sets policy, approves strategic plans, and ensures management maintains sound financial condition. Follow the link below to learn more about our current Board of Directors.
